Konohagakure (Konohagakure no Sato, liternal meaning for the "Village Hidden Among the Leaves", "Village Hidden in the Leaves", or the "Hidden Leaf Village") is the hidden shinobi village located of the Land of Fire. As one of the Five Great Nations, Konohagakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Hokage. There have been five Hokages and four Founding Hokages, the current one being Naruto Uzumaki.

On a mountain overlooking the village from the north exists the Hokage Monument. Although Konoha, much like the country in which it resides, has been relatively peaceful since the end of The Third Great Ninja War, it remains one of the most powerful villages in existence, and has great military power and influence.

History[]

Founding[]

Before the ninja villages came into being, there was the Sengoku Period when ninja were organized into small mercenary clans that knew nothing but battle. Two such clans were the Senju clan and the Uchiha clan, who have warred against each other since the time of their ancestors and are revered by others as the strongest ninja clans. Eventually, intending to end the countless bloodshed, Hashirama Senju used his power as leader of his clan to enter a truce with the Uchiha clan despite reluctance from its leader Madara Uchiha. Afterwards, the two clans would form the first shinobi village where Madara and Hashirama had met as children: Konohagakure — a name invented by Madara himself. Hashirama Senju used his Wood Style abilities to produce much of the village's infrastructure. This ability and his ideals were two of the reasons he was chosen to become the village's leader: the Hokage.

However, not being named Hokage and fearing that the Senju would oppress his clan, Madara attempted to gather support to overthrow Hashirama. But after his kin ostracised him (by replacing him with his benevolent and wise sister, Otoka), Madara resolved to deal with Hashirama himself by enslaving Kurama the Nine-Tailed Fox to do his bidding. The epic battle that ensued, causing the formation of the Final Valley while Madara was presumed dead, resulted with Kurama sealed within Mito Uzumaki, a member of the Uzumaki clan who were known for their unique chakra, who became the Nine-Tailed Fox's first known jinchuriki and created a tradition on it due to the close ties between the Senju and Uzumaki clans. At some point, Hashirama came to bind some of the other tailed beasts and gave them to the other newly formed ninja villages to promote peace. However this peace was short lived.

The Great Ninja Wars[]

Konoha took part in the first three Great Ninja Wars. Hashirama died shortly after the village began to flourish, and the mantle of Hokage was passed onto his brother Tobirama Senju who became the Second Hokage and years later the establishment of the Founding Hokage was passed down to his son Hanaku Senju. During the Second Hokage's administration, making attempts that no other Uchiha ends up like Madara, Tobirama created the Konoha Police Force and placed the Uchiha in charge of it. As the building also housed the jail and was located in the vicinity of the Uchiha's compound, this essentially ostracised them from the rest of the village. In giving them this task, Tobirama hoped to redirect the emotional Uchiha into a task which would benefit the village as well as save them from their curse. Tobirama died during the First Great Ninja War when he sacrificed himself to ensure the escape of his subordinates Danzo Shimura, Kagami Uchiha, Torifu Akimichi as well as Hiruzen Sarutobi, Homura Mitokado, and Koharu Utatane from Kumogakure's Kinkaku Force. After his Jinchuriki training quest was complete, Hanaku forged a coalition with the other Founding Kages in order to combat the Hollow Axis reigment led by Igarizaki and win victoriously.

Hanaku died a few years later after the end of the first ninja war in a sacred temple of his clan, but passes on the mantle of Founding Hokage onto his rival and best friend Sazaku Uchiha. Having inherited the mantles of Hokage and Founding Hokage now, Hiruzen and Sazaku later led Konoha's forces during the Second Great Ninja War where the Third Hokage's three students Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru became known as the Legendary Sannin and the Founding Second Hokage and his three students Takeshi Uchiha, Ryokatsu Rokaku, and Sayako Senju became the feared Fire Style team even after the Founding Second Hokage's death. Other than fighting across Amegakure with numerous clashes with its leader Hanzo, little is known of Konoha's actions during the war. The mantle of Founding Hokage was passed down to Gohazu Uchiha who became the Founding Third Hokage, forging an alliance with Yamagakure and Hoshigakure.

Konoha became involved in the Third Great Ninja War fighting the ninja of Iwagakure at the Land of Grass. Konoha was almost defeated, but Minato Namikaze and Nabiku Uzumaki helped turn the war back in their favor with Minato's apprentice Obito Uchiha among those who died during the war.

Senju Clan Genocide[]

Thirty nine years ago prior to Kaipuden, as the Senju celebrated the anniversary of the First Great Ninja War's end in their temples, fearing that the fifth jinchuriki would be born again as another Senju, Madara devised a plan to destroy the clan, as he and a few powerful shinobi who wanted to see the demise of the Senju clan as they unleashed a lot of Fire Style jutsu at their advantage by the coming of the fire-base comet, renamed Susanoo's Comet. Many casualities were suffering, most of the women and children were evacuated by the 14th head of the Uchiha, Third Hokage, and Founding First Hokage. However, during a battle in the Mimori Temple, Hanaku won it with great concentration of power and control, but was killed by Komatsu, a Senju who betrayed his people to become stronger than the First Hokage.

Most casualities were Senju elders and fathers, the Senju's Giant Cockatoos escape the attackers' wrath as they flew away, and the woman and children of the clan were escorted into three villages instead of Konoha; Kumo, Kiri, and Iwa due to the respect the Kage of the villages have for the Founding Hokage himself. Even on the verge of death, Hanaku still believed the good within the Uchiha clan as he appointed Sazaku as his successor as he resealed his the Ten-Tailed Badger into a sealing stone. However, it wasn't enought to maintain peace, with the Founding First Hokage's passing, the Second Great Ninja War was triggered by this event.

Nine-Tails' Attack[]

After the end of the Third Great Ninja War, Minato was chosen as the Fourth Hokage and Nabiku was chosen as the Founding Fourth Hokage after the death of the Founding Third Hokage. However, Minato's administration was short lived as Obito, having fallen into the Curse of Hatred and became a heir to Madara's legacy, snuck into the village and removing Kurama from its current host, Minato's wife Kushina Uzumaki, to have the tailed beast attack Konoha. Minato was able to defeat the masked ninja, unaware of his true identity, but he and Kushina later sacrificed their lives to seal the Nine-Tailed Fox into their son, Naruto Uzumaki. Many ninja died defending the village that day and blame for the events were projected on both Naruto and the Uchiha clan, the former unaware that he became a Nine-Tails's Jinchuriki and latter secretly accused of orchestrating the attack.

In the aftermath, becoming Konoha's leader again after the Founding Fourth Hokage's death as well, Hiruzen learned that Orochimaru had been kidnapping children in an experiment to reproduce Hashirama's power. However, though knowing he had to kill Orochimaru, Hiruzen did nothing and allowed his former apprentice to leave Konoha as a missing-nin who founded his own village to continue his human experimentation: Otogakure.

Hyuga Affair[]

The Hyuga Affair (日向の件, Hyuga no Ken) — as the incident is known nowadays in Kumogakure — happened nine years prior to the start of Kaipuden, while Kumogakure and Konohagakure were at war. In an attempt to put an end to the fighting, they agreed to a peace treaty to be signed on the date which coincided with Hinata Hyuga's third birthday. The treaty was soon revealed to be nothing more than a cover when the person who was the Head Ninja of Kumogakure at the time — who was in Konoha to sign the treaty — attempted to kidnap Hinata in order to obtain the Byakugan and its secrets. The shinobi was killed in his attempt by Hinata's father, Hiashi Hyūga.

Uchiha Clan Massarce[]

Due to being blamed for the Nine Tails's attack on the village, believing that Madara's warning of them becoming nothing more than second class citizens is becoming a reality, many of the Uchiha members began plotting a coup d'état that would wrest control of Konoha. However, there were few members of the Uchiha who saw the dangers from such a venture. four such figures being Itachi Uchiha, who became a spy for Konoha's leadership, Tenmaku Uchiha, Kuraito Uchiha, and Hihaku whom immgranted to Kiri, Kumo, and Iwa during the Third Great Ninja War after somehow predicting the event itself coming true and lost the love they had for Konoha with a small group of Uchihas following them. After peace talks failed, his part in the death of Shisui Uchiha playing a factor in it, Danzo Shimura orders Itachi to wipe out his clan. Assisted by Obito, whom he thought was Madara himself, Itachi killed all but the youths of kin: including his younger brother, Sasuke Uchiha. Honoring Itachi's request as he leaves the village, Hiruzen promises to protect Sasuke from Danzo. From there, the higher ups cover up the slaughter as cold-blooded murder with Itachi joining the Akatsuki to protect Konoha while living as a fugitive for the rest of his life. However, wishing to be punished for his crime, Itachi told Sasuke to live a life of vengeance so he would die by his brother's hand and restore their clan's honor.

Joint Otogakure-Sunagakure Invasion[]

Around five years after the Uchiha clan massacre, Konoha was invaded by Orochimaru forging an alliance with Sunagakure ninja to end the peace and prosperity that Konoha alone had enjoyed since the Third Great Ninja War. Prior to the final stage of the Chunin Exams, Orochimaru murdered the Fourth Kazekage Nobunatsu Zanaki and assumed his identity to get close enough to his former mentor to strike. Though the invaders were repelled, Konoha suffered heavy casualties that included Hiruzen after he redeemed himself by disabling Orochimaru's ability of using normal forms of ninjutsu when he could not take his former apprentice with him in death. Though Tsunade Senju was named the Fifth Hokage, recovery for the rest of Konoha's military forces was slow and understaffed to the point that it could not properly respond to events occurring in the interim, such as Itachi and Kisame Hoshigaki sneaking into Konoha in search of Naruto and Sasuke's defection weeks later.

The Great Hollow-Human War[]

Seventy eight years prior to the start of Kaipuden, the Hollow Axis once invaded the captial of the Land of Fire Hinaka by the Hollow King Harukugan confining the daimyo of the Land of Fire into surrending. However as word was sent out to Konoha, Hashirama prepared a regiment of his elite Konoha ninja to end the rekindle flames of war of the dead. But their resistence were proved to be no match against Adjuchas-class and Gillian-class hollows which resulted in the regiment to scatter into pockets of resistences against them as they held the First Hokage as hostage. By a miracle, Kisuke Urahara snucked in to free Hashirama and offers to train him to obtain Shinigami powers to defeat Harukugan. In June 19, 1930, after the Shinigami training, Hashirama returned to the captial to confront Harukugan as he was assisted by the Five Hidden Villages' ten beautiful maidens combating the Hollow Axis as the tides were favoring Konoha. After a several rounds with the Hollow King, Hashirama came out victorious as he weaken Harukugan and sealed him within a rock pillar with the help of the Ten Princesses of Tenchi thurs saved the Land of Fire and the Ninja World of another conflicting period of war.

In the Worlds of the Shadow, the Human Allies' leaders were amaze of the First Hokage's heroic deed and legendary skills to take down Harukugan, despite not killing him, order their scientists and technicians to build a space-time pathway to the Ninja World. Upon a second Five Kage Summit meeting the leaders of the Human Allies approach them peacifully and ask a series of alliances with the shinobi villages, in which result to the creation of the Sekenta, for assistances against the Hollow Axis that plagues their lands and occuping fallen countries. Konoha forms an alliance with the Samurai, Detective, Technology, Bloodlust, Islands, Scientist, Harvest, and Knight worlds in order to gain passage into the Hollow Axis's earth capital of the Dark Hollow World. So far there's been little accomplish to locate a way into the Dark Hollow World while the war had made a few heroes in the process and a few clans such as the Rokaku, Kangeta, Hayashi, Hagoromo, Uchiha, Ushizoma, Mitsuka, and Daikya clans have taken parts in campagins that have build the defense of the Human Allies' nations and laying ground foot on Hollow Vectors while most of the Konoha ninja took a leave of absences for a few decades prior to the start of Kaipuden.

In February 11, 2008, Konoha resume their total part into the Great Hollow-Human War with the Fifth Hokage leading their forces as they begun to turn the tides in the war. In the Samurai World on the Conquest of Akugo, the Hollow Leader Akuitai was slain by Naruto Uzumaki. In the Detective World, after waking up from his coma and leading only two ninja of the Higure to the Conquest of Wataro, Sasuke defeated and slain the Hollow Leader Metasuranpu. Konoha genin helped reclaimed six total counrtries from the Hollow Axis as they are still currently in battle with them.

The Great Hollow-Human War's currently year has produced Samurai World heroes such as Kiba Inuzuka, Irina Daikya, Suigetsu Hozuki, and Karin Uzumaki, Detective World heroes such as Rakuha Senju and Yukiyo Senju, Technology World heroes such as Choji Akimichi, Shikamaru Nara, Neji Hyuga, and Hagita Kiroshika.
